Mullabrack v Cullyhanna
Mullabrack ladies had back to back wins in Division 3 when they
hosted Cullyhanna on Saturday 12/4/08.
Mullabrack won more than their fair share of possession but the
forwards failed to take advantage with Toni Morgan the only forward
to score with two points from play. The defence worked hard allowing
Cullyhanna few scoring chances and limiting them to two first half
points. Helen Corvan was forced to retire due to injury and was
replaced by Emma Fields. Half time 0:2 to 0:2.
Culylhanna opened the scoring in the second-half with a free and
Shauna Gallogly responded with the equaliser. Half-time sub Rachel
McGeown found The Cullyhanna net and the lead was extended to four
points when Shauna converted a second free.
During the next spell of play Mullabrack struggled to get the
ball beyond mid-field and the visitors took full advantage with the
lead exchanging hands as the visitors scored a goal and two points.
However Mullabrack didn‘t give up and they won a free 30metres out
which Shauna Gallogly sent towards goal helped on by the fist of
Kathryn Rice. The final five minutes were nail-biting as Mullabrack
allowed their opponents through for a second goal but the girls
weren‘t going to give up without a fight and when Niamh Sutton won
the ball on the 21 the only place the ball was going was to the back
of the net! The defence held firm for the final minutes and when the
whistle blew Mullabrack had secured a two point victory 3:5 to 2:6.
