Mullaghbrack seniors travelled to
Carrickcruppin for the second round of the Championship on Saturday
19/5/07.
Playing against a very strong wind
Mullaghbrack struggled to get the ball beyond midfield and
Silverbridge took advantage sending in long balls which opened up
the Bracks defence who conceded three goals and a point in the
opening half.
Shauna Gallogly netted for
Mullaghbrack but was denied by the referee who failed to allow the
advantage and awarded a free which failed to be converted.
Saoirse Farrell won a high ball on
the edge of the square and was fouled when going forward. Christina
Crilly coolly converted the resulting penalty bringing the half-time
score 3:1 to 1:0 in Silverbridges favour.
Unfortunately the wind died down in
the second half and Silverbridge opened the second-half scoring with
a goal. This was to be their final score. Mullaghbrack rallied hard
with Faye Rice, Aoife McConville and Helen Corvan in the half-back
line limiting their opponents to few chances. Shauna Gallogly
converted a free and took a fine individual point. Christina Crilly
scored her second goal when she sent a high ball in which ended in
the back of the Silverbridge net. Toni Morgan and Shauna Gallogly
each scored scored points to leave just a goal in it.
Unfortunately luck did not fall
Mullaghbracks way and when the referee blew the final whistle the
girls were gutted knowing that they had their chances and were the
better team on the night.
Final Score Silverbridge 4:1
Mullaghbrack 2:4
