Mullaghbrack senior ladies met Dorsey Emmet's in the first round
of the Junior Championship on Saturday evening 12th May in
Carrickcruppin.
Mullaghbrack got of to a great start when Shauna Gallogly netted
within minutes of the throw in. Dorsey's defence was under immense
pressure with Mullaghbrack girls making good use of their possession
resulting in goals for Kathryn Rice, Lisa Fields and a second from
Shauna Gallogly. Christina Crilly scored a hat trick, two from play
and one a well taken penalty. Christina, Shauna, Lisa, Toni Morgan
and Saoirse Farrell added points to leave the half-time score 7:7 to
no score.
Mullaghbracks half back line continued to dominate their
opponents in the second half and prevented Dorsey from any scoring
chances. Shauna Gallogly added to her tally with a further three
points and Helen Corvan raced from the half-back line to record a
point. Substitute Caroline Monaghan added a point to leave the final
score 7:12 to no score.
This was a fine team performance from goalkeeper to full forwards
and subs. We thank Dorsey Emmet's for a clean sporting game and wish
them well in the remaining league games. The girls are looking
forward to their next championship outing when a place in the
semi-final will be at stake.
