Mullabrack Minor Ladies GFC v
Pearse Og
Mullabrack ladies played their second league match on Monday
evening 11/06/07 when they met Pearse Og at home.
Kathryn Rice opened the scoring for the home side immediately
when she sent the ball over the bar in the first minute. Her
midfield partner Linda Carr added a second before Pearse Ogs
converted a free to open their score sheet. This was to be their
only score of the half as Mullaghbrack dominated play in all
positions. Shauna Gallogly hit the net and scored three fine points.
Linda Carr scored Mullabracks second goal when she palmed the ball
to the back of the Ogs net. Aoife McConville attacked from her
half-back position going on a solo resulting in an excellent point
to leave the half time score 2:6 to 0:1 in favour of the home side.
Aoife Lennon moved from nets to mid field for the second half and
opened the second half score sheet with a point. Linda Carr
increased Mullabracks lead with a further point. Mullaghbrack lost
control of the match briefly allowing Pearse Ogs in for two goals
and a point. The home sides half backs and mid field regained their
dominance sending in good ball to the forwards which was converted
to points by Orlagh O’Hanlon, Toni Morgan, Leanne Murray and Lisa
Fields. Shauna Gallogly always had the better of her opponent
scoring a second goal to leave the result in no doubt. Aoife Lennon
added a further point and sub Grainne Lee completed the scoring when
she struck the ball to the Ogs net.
Final score 4:13 to 2:2.
This was a fine team performance by all. Aoife Lennon was always
alert in goals preventing the Ogs from any first half goals. She was
well assisted by Eimear Nugent, Faye Rice and Frances Boylan in the
full-back line. Ciara Gallogly, Aoife McConville and Helen Corvan
were outstanding in the half-back line limiting the visitors to few
scoring chances. Kathryn Rice and Linda Carr controlled mid field:
Kathryn clearing in the back line when required and Linda attacking
and taking excellent scores. Half forwards Leanne Murray, Toni
Morgan and Ashleen Nugent worked hard gaining valuable possession
and setting up scores for full forwards Orlagh O’Hanlon, Shauna
Gallogly and Lisa Fields who all recorded scores.
