Lisbrack v Armagh Harps
Lisbrack played their fourth league match of the season when they
hosted Armagh Harps on Monday 18/6/07.
The visitors opened the scoring with a point but Linda Carr
replied with two points to take the lead for the home side. Lisbrack
conceded a goal and two points before Gemma Canvan, Rachael McGeown
and Frances Boylan each scored points to keep Lisbrack well in
touch. Harps continued to exert pressure on the Lisbrack defence and
were rewarded with a goal and a point. Shauna Rafferty pointed for
the home side and the Harps did likewise. Linda Carr and the
visitors exchanged goals in the closing stages of the first half and
Gemma Canavan scored Lisbracks final point of the half to leave the
home side trailing by 1:7 to 3:6.
Harps opened the second half scoring with a goal. However Niamh
Marley and Gemma Canavan each found the net for Lisbrack and Rachael
McGeown scored a point to leave the difference the minimum. Harps
experience began to tell and they were able to score when it was
most needed gaining a further three goals and four points. Full
credit to the Lisbrack girls who continued to fight to the final
whistle with Rachael McGeown finding the net and Niamh Marley
scoring a hat trick of points. Gemma Canavan and Linda Carr
completed the scoring for the home side to leave the final score 7:9
to 4:13, the points going to the Armagh side.
Lisbrack had the greater possession but the experienced Harps
side prevented the home side from converting their possession to
scores. Harps had to fight hard for their victory and full credit
should be given to the home side for a very entertaining game which
had both sets of spectators enthralled to the final whistle with
some fine score taking from both sides.
