Lisbrack are still in contention
for the league play-offs after defeating Clann Eireann at home
on Thursday evening 28/06/07.
Playing against the breeze Shauna
Rafferty converted a free to open the scoring for Lisbrack.
However their lead was short lived when Clann Eireanns attempt
at a point hit the upright and rebounded kindly for the visitors
who struck the ball to the net. They scored a further point
before Aiveen Rafferty scored Lisbracks second point. Clan
Eireann replied with a point to leave the mid way score 1:2 to
0: 2 in favour of the Lurgan side.
Lisbrack took full advantage of
the second-half breeze when Niamh Marley struck a great point to
reduce the margin. Aiveen Rafferty sent a high ball in which the
keeper
couldn’t prevent from landing in
the net and Lisbrack took the lead. Linda Carr attacked from
midfield hitting a fine point to increase the home teams
advantage.
Clann Eireann were limited to few
second-half attacks due to Lisbracks dominance in midfield and
half back in particular Aoife McConville who continually denied
her opponent any worthwhile possession.
Aiveen Rafferty scored her second
goal close to the final whistle to leave the result in no doubt,
two valuable league points and a hard fought well-earned victory
for Lisbrack. This was a great achievement for the home side
defeating a very experienced Lurgan side. Final score 2:4 to
1:2.
