Mullabrack v Shane
O'Neills [ Senior men]
This was the second
game in the senior men's league for the 2006 season and Mullabrack
fielded a large squad for the game against Shane
O'Neills. The game
started at a very fast pace and Shane
O'Neills took a 3 point lead
within 10 minutes. Mullabrack then put their first points on the
board through a long range point from Paddy Toal. A few minutes
later Danny O’Hanlon picked up a loose ball on the edge of the Shane
O'Neill
area and slotted the ball between the posts. Shane
O'Neills
then
extended their lead by a further 2 points leaving the score 5 points
to 3 points had half time.
The second half saw
Sean Henry coming on for Phily Murphy. Mullabrack started
the better in the second half, but a couple of missed chances saw
Shane O'Neills put over 3 unanswered points before Philem Sands
and Taff Toal
put 2 points each over the bar brining the score back to 7 points a
piece. At this point Mullabrack piled on the pressure, however Taff
Toal could not capitalise from two awarded frees. The game then
swung Shane O'Neills
way when Mullabrack lost the ball on the left side. A good ball into
the Mullabrack area was picked up and was slid into the net by Sean
Brady’s. Four unanswered points then followed from Shane
O'Neills opening up a gap of 7 points. Mullabrack
however did not give up and fought right up to the finish. A fine
ball in from Benny O’Kane was fisted into the Shane
O'Neill net by
Phelim Sands leaving the final score 1:10 for Shane
O'Neills to 1:6 for
Mullabrack.
