The scene was now set for Aidan McVeigh and his team to take on
Dromintee in the final on the 10th July, again in
Ballymacnab. Dromintee began quite magnificently with three
points in as many minutes without a Mullabrack reply. However,
Mullabrack began to find their feet soon after and responded
with two points from Peter McGeown – fully recovered from his
bout of flu which had kept him out of the first round, and an
equaliser from Noel Marley. The game was then nip and tuck all
the way until Oliver McGeown found the back of the net with a
sublime finish to give Mullabrack a lead, they were not to
relinquish again. The game finished 1-10 to 0-10 amid glorious
scenes of joy amongst the many Mullabrack supporters present.
